Previous Initiatives

  • Financial Institution Authentication Forum
In response to increasing demand from the government and industry for financial institution solutions in identity management, the Internet Council formed the Financial Institutions Authentication Forum (the FI Forum) in May 2004. Participation in the FI Forum is comprised of regulated depository financial institutions, which are also members of NACHA's Internet Council. The FI Forum was created for the purpose of sharing information and identifying best practices and guidelines for authentication and identity management across the industry. The Forum also intends to work collectively to provide input on significant industry authentication and security initiatives underway within organizations outside of the Internet Council that effect the financial services industry.

Participation in the Forum is open to regulated depository financial institution members of NACHA’s Internet Council, regional payment associations of NACHA that are members of NACHA and the Internet Council and NACHA Staff.

  • WEB/TEL Research Project
The Internet Council has issued the report, Surveying the Landscape for Internet and Telephone-initiated ACH Consumer Debits.  This report is a direct result of the hard work of the WEB/TEL survey project members and Javelin Strategy & Research.  This study has helped us to better understand two rapidly growing applications and positioned us to address important issues such as authentication, fraud, data security, and return rates within the Council.  This report is available for Internet Council members only and is available on the Members Site
